QManagement of Waste Mud from the Waste Water Treatment Facilities in lstanbul Solid wastes found in solid and solved forma! at waste water purification facilities, are converted into mud via var i ous physical, chemical and biological methods and are separated !rom waste water. The daily total amount of mud generated at the household waste water treatment facilit i es run by lstanbul Water and Sewer Department (İSKİ) in 2010 was around 305 !ons. With the planned investments far new waste water treatment facilities the total amount of waste mud ta be generated at these facilities is expected ta reach 1000 !ons per day. Disposal and transportation of waste mud at the waste water purification facilities are the major cost items. Thus, decreasing the amount of mud is crucial in terms of decreasing the operational costs of such facilities. This study explains the waste mud treatment methods used at Ataköy Advanced Biological Wastewater Treatment Facility run by İSKİ.
